Hey OTBT wanderers! Are the cooler temps and fall foliage giving you major wanderlust? Are the mountains calling you to embark on an autumn adventure? Whenever we feel that chill in the air or see the colorful cascading leaves, something inside us stirs and we crave the beauty and majesty of the great outdoors. There’s no better time than the fall to get out and get moving! Whether it’s a strenuous yet rewarding hike up the mountains or a simple nature walk, this season was made for the outdoor explorer.

And speaking of the great outdoors, if you’re looking for the perfect place to get your autumn adventuring on, consider Lake Placid in upstate New York. This lovely little lakeside town is the quintessential fall vacation spot! From the local shops and restaurants of Main Street to the numerous hiking trails, the Adirondack village of Lake Placid has plenty to see and do.

Our team member, Liz recently returned from her Lake Placid honeymoon, bringing back plenty of scenic snapshots showcasing her trip with her new husband. The two of them stayed at the Golden Arrow, an eco-friendly resort right on Mirror Lake. They spent their mornings sipping coffee out on the first-floor patio, enjoying the peaceful lakefront view and watching the ducks waddle on by. The sunny 75° weather was absolutely idyllic for leisurely walks around Mirror Lake, popping in and out of the local boutiques, and enjoying the delicious cuisine of the village’s restaurants.

Liz came prepared for the trip ahead with her Commuter boots, from OTBT’s brand new Outdoor Explorer collection – a feminine and sporty take on outdoor footwear. Paired with distressed denim, a graphic tee, and cozy fall flannel, these sturdy but stylish lace-up boots were perfect for all her Lake Placid adventuring, from strolling down Main Street to hiking up Cobble Hill.

Aside from walking and hiking, Lake Placid is also home to main other fun points of interest. If you’re in town, be sure to check out the Winter Olympic Museum, which commemorates 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics held right in Lake Placid. There you can learn about everything from the history of Olympic Games to the legendary “Miracle on Ice.” If winter sports is your forte, you can also visit the Olympic Ski Jump and Bobsled complexes for more gorgeous views and exhilarating rides. And if you simply want a fun time to pass the afternoon, treat yourself to a round of mini golf at Pirate’s Cove.

So if you’re craving a unique fall vacation filled with beautiful scenery, delicious food, and plenty of fun places to explore and discover – Lake Placid may be just the place for you! For more information about vacationing in Lake Placid, check out this travel guide.
